Zainab Marwa: Imo-born wife of NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa, Dies At 66

Zainab, the first wife of Buba Marwa, chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), is dead.

Mrs Zainab Marwa, YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine learnt, died after a brief illness.

A native of Emekuku in Imo State, she was the mother of Marwa’s first set of children. Their marriage, however, later ran into a ditch, leading to Marwa allegedly divorcing her and marrying a second wife, Munirat.

Confirming the story, top journo and politico, Aare Dele Momodu, wrote this on his Facebook page: “The families of BRIGADIER GENERAL MOHAMMED BUBA MARWA (RTD.) and AGBASO of Emekuku, Imo State, have announced the passing of CHIEF (MRS) ZAINAB NWAGBOLUIWE IGOLO MARWA, the first wife of the former Military Governor of Lagos State, after a brief illness. May her soul rest in peace…”

She left behind her four children and 10 grandchildren as well as her siblings and aged mother.

Throughout her life, she advocated for the advancement of women and the girl-child.

The family will announce a burial plan at a later date, according to the statement.
