I would have cost around €150m in today’s transfer market – Jay Jay Okocha

Football Legend, Jay Jay Okocha has claimed that if he were playing in today’s transfer market, he would have been valued at around €150 million for teams to sign him.

The ex-Paris Saint-Germain, Fenerbahçe, and Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder made this assertion while reflecting on the exorbitant transfer fees paid by clubs to acquire players.

In an interview with hurriyet, Okocha speculated that his worth would be equivalent to €150 million based on current market standards.

“Maybe 1 billion should have been paid for me,” he said.

“They paid £106m for their defensive midfielder Chelsea. To a player from Portugal. I would have cost around €150m. My assists, dribbles… World football started to pay a lot of money. Such would be the numbers of players of this quality.”

“It was a really difficult decision. I left very sadly. I was very happy in Fenerbahçe. Moreover, I married my wife in Turkey. My children were about to be born.
