Marrying him is like fulfilling a lifelong ambition – Nigerian lady married to a blind man

Maimunatu Sa’idu, a Nigerian woman, has explained that she chose to marry Dahuru Abdulhamid Idris, a blind teacher because she loved him more than any of her other suitors. The couple tied the knot in Zakirai, Gezawa Local Government Area, Kano State, on May 12th.

Saidu told DailyTrust in an interview that she fell in love with Idris on their first encounter. Idris, who struggled for education, rose to fame in 2021 after being interviewed about his life as a volunteer teacher at a public school. He received support from numerous Nigerians, including an anonymous individual who bought him a three-bedroom flat and helped him secure a teaching job with the Kano state government.

The bride said; “I have loved him from the first day I met him and I will continue till eternity. I believe that God destined us to be together and I accept it with my heart. He is the kind of person I want to be with in my life. He is decent, gentle and loves everything about religion. Marrying him is like fulfilling a life ambition, I promised myself I will marry the best person I love among my suitors. I will try my best to discharge my responsibilities. I will take good care of him and his entire family.”she said

The groom, Dahuru Abdulhamid Idris, stated that he met his life partner through her elder brother, who also happened to be his friend. He explained that he realized he had found a wife because of the way she accepted him despite his blindness.

Regarding how he plans to take care of his wife as a blind man, the school teacher said that marriage involves exchanging ideas, needs, and responsibilities. He added that both partners have their own responsibilities, and he will do his best to fulfill his duties. He also expressed his faith that Allah will guide him in the right direction.
