First Ladies deserve privileges provided to Presidents – Aisha Buhari

Aisha Buhari, the outgoing First Lady, has expressed her belief that certain privileges provided to former Presidents, such as vehicle provisions, sponsored medical treatments, and stipends, should also be extended to the wives of former Presidents.

Mrs. Buhari conveyed this sentiment during her speech at the book launch in Abuja, which was authored by Mrs. Vickie Anwuli Irabor, the President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA).

Mrs. Buhari explained the rationale behind her proposal, stating, “I entered into marriage with my husband when he was the President, and soon I will once again become the wife of a former President. Therefore, they should consider us as former first ladies. It is important to include the first ladies and grant us the privileges that we deserve, not only for the former Presidents.”
