If you are making life difficult for me, there is no way I will go and invest – Aliko Dangote tells African countries to issue visa-on-arrivals for Africans

Aliko Dangote, the billionaire businessman, has called upon African countries to implement visa-on-arrival policies for Nigerians and citizens of other African nations in order to promote trade and business across the continent.

Speaking at the 30th Afreximbank Annual Meetings held in Accra, Ghana, on Sunday, June 18, the CEO of the Dangote Group emphasized that facilitating visa-on-arrival for Africans would contribute to the advancement of inter- and intra-African trade and investment opportunities.

Dangote suggested that African countries should adopt a system where Africans are granted visas upon arrival, citing a scenario where an African individual would need a visa to enter “country A.” He shared a personal experience where he faced difficulties obtaining a visa despite being a wealthy individual, contrasting it with the ease with which a British person or a Nigerian holding a British passport is allowed entry.

Expressing his frustration, Dangote emphasized that if countries make the process of obtaining visas cumbersome, it hampers his willingness to invest. He asserted that when obstacles are placed in his path, he is deterred from making investments.
