I was expelled from the church choir over entanglement with four females choristers – Singer, Olakira

Ade Ebenezer, popularly known as Olakira, shared a personal story about his past on TVC’s program, Wake Up Nigeria. The singer disclosed that he was once a gospel artist and a member of his church’s choir. However, due to his involvement with four female choir members, he was eventually expelled from the choir.

The experience had a lasting impact on him even after he transitioned into a secular artist. Olakira revealed that he faced depression and struggled to focus during that time. Consequently, he decided to seek therapy last year to clear his mind and address the emotional challenges.

When asked about the hiatus between the release of his hit song ‘Maserati’ and his later works, Olakira attributed it to his personal struggles. He admitted that entering the secular music world brought new challenges, and he needed time away to deal with everything.

In retrospect, the singer acknowledged that he feels more comfortable around women, which he attributed to being raised by a single mother.
