Final year ESUT student found dead in her room as male friend reportedly battles for life

Mbah Ezinne, a final-year student at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), was tragically discovered deceased in her room. The somber incident took place on July 31, 2023, after she failed to attend her church service as usual.

Mbah Samson, one of her brothers, recently shared a Facebook post by Akalu Moon on August 14, 2023, which accused Anita Josephine Ogona of tarnishing the late Ezinne’s reputation online. This post also suggested that Ezinne might have been a victim of foul play.

Reports suggest that the young woman had been an active member of her church community. Just prior to the unfortunate incident, she had participated in a praise night event with her friends on Friday, July 28, 2023. The group dispersed around 4:00 am on Saturday to prepare for the Youth Day festivities scheduled for Sunday, July 30.

According to SaharaReporters, concern arose when Ezinne was unresponsive to calls from friends and family during the church service on Sunday. Chisom Onyedikachi, one of her acquaintances, mentioned that by Monday morning, July 31, when they still couldn’t reach her, worry deepened.

Alarmed about her well-being, her brother Stephen and several friends decided to visit her residence in Enugu. Upon arrival on Monday afternoon, they spotted Ezinne and a male friend, her fellow coursemate, lying on the floor through a window. They attempted to enter her apartment, but neighbors advised them to involve the police first.

Authorities were summoned, and both individuals were taken to the hospital. Tragically, upon reaching the hospital, Ezinne was pronounced dead, while her male companion, whose identity remains unknown, was resuscitated. The male friend is reportedly still in critical condition, fighting for his life.

In the hopes of shedding light on the events of that fateful weekend, friends and family are anxiously awaiting the male friend’s recovery.
