G5 Governors visit Tinubu in Aso Rock

The G-5 assembly of governors within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), consisting of four former governors and one current governor, engaged in discussions with President Bola Tinubu on the night of October 17 at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock.

According to reports, the meeting with Tinubu followed a prior gathering at the residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja, Nyesom Wike.

The former Governors in attendance were: Nyesom Wike, the immediate past Governor of Rivers State who now serves as the FCT Minister; Samuel Ortom, the former Governor of Benue State; Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the former Governor of Enugu State; Okezie Ikpeazu, the former Governor of Abia State; and Seyi Makinde, the current Governor of Oyo State.

According to a report by Vanguard, a source privy to the meeting who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the issue said;

“The G-5 PDP Governors first met in Wike’s residence for a few hours before heading to the Villa to meet with the president.

“Exact details of what was discussed isn’t available to me at the moment,  but from discussions held during the initial meeting at Wike’s residence, it was all about finding accommodation for the former governors in the scheme of things and of course, how they can work together .”
