The coalition of organized labor unions, which includes the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has announced a nationwide strike following an attack on its NLC President, Joe Ajaero.

During a briefing in Abuja, the NLC and TUC leaders presented a 6-point demand to the Federal Government, urging the immediate removal of the Imo State Commissioner of Police, the Area Commander, and other police officers allegedly involved in the brutal treatment of Ajaero and other workers.

This strike is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. Ajaero was reportedly subjected to mistreatment during an organized labor protest in Imo State, leading to injuries that necessitated medical attention abroad due to the severity of the injuries, as stated by the NLC Publicity Secretary, Benson Upah.
