Nigerian army gets first professor 

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna revealed the elevation of Lt. Col. Abubakar-Surajo Imam to the position of Professor in Mechatronics Engineering. Notably, Imam stands as the first-ever serving personnel in the Nigerian Army to attain this academic rank.

Brig.-Gen. AM Tukur, the Academy’s Registrar, officially declared this promotion in a statement issued in Kaduna State on the same day. The decision, confirmed during the NDA Council Meeting in September, became effective from October 1, 2023.

Tukur emphasized that this decision reflects the council’s confidence in and recognition of Imam’s significant contributions to the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at the Academy, commending his exemplary services and commitment to upholding excellence in his field.
