I was imprisoned without taken to court -Nigerian returnee recalls her experience in Libya, warns about the dangers of irregular migration

Hope Oyiza, a Nigerian woman who came back from Libya in 2017, cautions fellow Nigerians against visiting the war-torn nation.

Recounting her ordeal, she shared experiences of enduring sexual abuse, false accusations, police torture, and imprisonment after court proceedings.

As an advocate against human trafficking, she shared her experience with the “of course” challenge.

She wrote; “I am a LIBYAN RETURNEE, of course I wont open my eyes and let people make the same mistake I made, she wrote.  I am a LIBYAN RETURNEE, of course I will keep talking about the dangers of irregular migration. I am a LIBYAN RETURNEE, of course I was imprisoned without taken to court. I am a LIBYAN RETURNEE, of course I was Kidnapped while looking out for others. I am a LIBYAN RETURNEE, of course I have physical and emotional scars that hasnt faded after years of return. I am a LIBYAN RETURNEE, of course the change begins with me. I am a LIBYAN RETURNEE and my name is LUNA.
