Singer Portable has ridiculed Nigerians who are celebrating the victory of the Super Eagles over Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

In a video posted online, Portable expressed his belief that Nigerians should come together to address the hunger and hardship in the country rather than focusing on football. He noted that while the Super Eagles players have received their salaries, many Nigerians have gone without food.

He said; ‘’My people, pray for Nigeria. Hungry wan kill us. You people should sit down and ask yourself ‘Why am I happy? Why am I dancing up and down? Have I eaten? Dollar has risen. Euro is running. Where is the Naira? You are not thinking about your life, you watching football, opening your chest. Your wife and children are at home, they have not eaten and you are shouting ’Goal! Goal!, Up Nigeria!”
