AFCON final: Turn off the power meter and don’t forget to sabotage the generator – Shehu Sani tells Nigerian women to save their husbands from death

Former federal legislator, Shehu Sani, has issued a warning to Nigerian women, advising them against allowing their husbands to risk their lives over football.

The ex-lawmaker, who served in the Eighth Assembly, emphasized the crucial role women have in preventing their husbands from endangering themselves.

At least five Nigerians lost their lives while watching the semi-final match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday night during the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cote D’Ivoire.

The match was tense, with the Super Eagles ultimately prevailing over Bafana Bafana in penalty shootouts.

Those who passed away while watching the match were Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC; a corps member serving in Adamawa State identified simply as Samuel; Ayuba Abdullahi, Deputy Bursar at Kwara State University, Malete; and Mikail Osundiji from the Olomoore area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Sani in a tweet advised women to take decisive action, such as switching off the power meter or tampering with the generator, particularly when they are uncertain about their husbands’ health status.

“If your husband loves watching Football on live TV and you are doubtful about his health status, just turn off the power meter and switch off and don’t forget to sabotage the generator,”
