”I do not regret campaigning for Tinubu” – Actor, Olaiya Igwe

Actor Olaiya Igwe has affirmed that he holds no regrets for his advocacy in support of President Bola Tinubu, asserting that given another opportunity, he would unhesitatingly do the same.

In the weeks leading up to the presidential election, Olaiya garnered attention by undertaking a controversial act: praying for Tinubu’s success while standing naked on a beach. This action sparked significant criticism, with many within the industry questioning the appropriateness of such behavior from a respected figure in the acting community.

However, on February 5 of this year, Olaiya released a video wherein he expressed remorse to those who found his actions offensive. He clarified that his motivation stemmed from a place of gratitude, citing Tinubu’s support during his illness. Additionally, he revealed that he received what he believed to be a divine revelation prompting him to offer prayers in this unconventional manner.

‘’Some people claim my apologising for going to the beach meant that I regret campaigning for Tinubu. I do not regret campaigning for Tinubu. If I have another opportunity to do things that I can to make Tinubu win the election again so that this country will become better, I will do it. I do not regret it at all”
