NFF offers Jose Peseiro new contract but same $50,000 per month salary

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the governing body of Nigerian football, is currently in talks with Jose Peseiro regarding a potential new contract.

Reports suggest that the NFF has proposed to maintain the same monthly salary of €50,000 that the Portuguese coach earned before he played a pivotal role in leading the Super Eagles to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Initially, Peseiro was earning $70,000 per month but agreed to a reduction to $50,000 to guide the Super Eagles to the AFCON tournament.

Following the conclusion of the AFCON 2023 finals, the 63-year-old’s previous contract expired.

Peseiro, who previously coached Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, has been associated with various coaching opportunities since the conclusion of the AFCON, with reports indicating strong interest from the Algeria Football Federation.

In a recent statement, the Portuguese coach disclosed that he has received offers from at least seven different national teams and clubs, and he intends to decide his future in the forthcoming days.
