Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti has entered the ongoing debate surrounding DNA testing that has stirred discussions across Nigeria’s social media platforms.

Nigerians have been split on the necessity of DNA tests, particularly in light of recent incidents of paternity fraud.

Expressing his views on his Instagram account, Kuti stated that the request for DNA testing reflects a matter of trust and power dynamics. According to him, no man will request a DNA test if his partner is richer than him

He said, “There is no way that doing DNA test is not about trust. Doing DNA test is a trust issue 100 per cent! It’s not only a trust issue, it’s also a power issue. No man would request for a DNA test if their partners are richer than them.”
