Hold Buhari government responsible should any harm befall Bishop Kukah – ECWA tells International Community

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has called on the International community to hold the Buhari-led government responsible if any harm befalls Bishop Kukah of the Sokoto Catholic Diocese. Kukah has been criticized by some Nigerians following his Christmas day message in which he accused President Buhari of Nepotism.

According to him, there would have been a coup if a non-northern president practiced nepotism like Buhari. This comment had prompted the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum to call for the arrest and prosecution of Bishop Kukah.

Reacting to this in a statement released yesterday December 29, the General Secretary of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Rev. Yunusa Sabo Nmadu Jnr, said the bishop has spoken the mind of the people

According to Nmadu, the current administration has a first class degree in Nepotism. He further called on international bodies to hold Buhari responsible if any evil befalls Kukah as he termed the call for the Bishop’s arrest as a joke.

He said;

“There is nothing new about what Bishop Kukah said. The bishop has spoken our minds, and we will resist any attempt by any group or agency of government to harm him. Enough of this intimidation. This style of governance to silent dissent voices by the Major General Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is unacceptable and must be resisted.

“We invite the international community and Nigerians to hold General Buhari and his government responsible should anything happen to Bishop Kukah. As a matter of fact, nepotism under General Buhari administration is top-notch.

“This administration has a first-class (degree) in nepotism and maladministration.” Nmadu said he observed that many reactions had been coming from Muslims and northern groups, adding that calls for his arrest were laughable.

“I have read so many reactions to the Christmas message of our respected Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, with many of them coming from Muslims and northern groups. Some of these uncharitable groups have even called for the arrest of our revered Bishop. Arrest a man that spoke the minds of millions of Nigerian? They must be joking.

“The Federal Government must immediately take steps towards addressing those concerns raised by Bishop Kukah, rather than sponsoring fake groups to attack the revered Bishop. There is no denying the fact that Nigeria under General Buhari is now a centre of bloodshed, killing, kidnapping, banditry and all forms of insecurities are now the order of the day.

“Kdnappings and all forms of ihies are now order of the day. The President should face the job for which he swore to. Mr. President, fulfill your campaign promises, secure the country and make life better for all of us. This country belongs to all of us. And no section of this country should be made superior than the other. We are bonafide citizens with equal rights. Enough of these shenanigans. We are watching.

  1. Chai… This administration is very bad to the core… You can’t fight bandits and terrorists to the brink of death but you have the time to arrest innocent civilians who speaks there mind because they have freedom of expressions and information to say whatever they want….

  2. Does it mean that this present government does not want any dissenting voice or what. When someone says any thing against their policies or criticizes them, trouble will burst, they will start to look for ways to intimidate that person through all means
A government that does not listen and give rooms to be given advice is following the wrong path
    No one knows it all

    1. If anyone is ready to tell the government of nowadays the truth they are ready to fight them to the core which is unfair.

  3. We are in big mess in this country, the way this administration is treating us it’s baffled me, it’s only God can rescue us.

  4. The government should be held responsible if anything happens to him because how would they asked us to keep quiet when there’s lots of things that we are not contented with.

  5. When you (government) don’t want us to tell them, do they want us just to support them with any evil perpetrated by them? This is unfair.

  6. I have said it before that to me I don’t think the president is actually practicing nepotism this is because even the northerners are also suffering very well but that does not call for any bad reaction to the anointed man of God because the scripture says touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm Psalm 105 : 15

  7. This administration lead by useless President muhammadu buhari is responsible for every harm going around in the country.
