Sale of government assets will benefit Nigerians – Finance Minister, Zainab Ahmed says
The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, has assured that the sale of the Federal government’s properties to fund the 2021 budget will help to boost the country’s economy and benefit Nigerians too.
She had revealed during the budget presentation on January 12 that the Federal government will be selling off some of its assets and use the funds generated to fund the deficit in the 2021 budget.
In her chat with Channels TV on Friday Morning, January 22, Ahmed made it known that a lot of government assets are currently moribund and provide little or no value to Nigerians in their current state.
She said;
“There are some government assets that are dead that can be sold to the private sector to be reactivated and put to use for the benefit of Nigerians. So we are looking at different categories of government assets that government has not been able to manage, that are lying down and in some cases even completely rundown, to cede them off to the private sector.” she said She said the Bureau of Public Enterprises will in the first quarter of this year begin to coordinate with other arms of government on the asset sales.

When there is no proper monitoring, the refinery is not working yet you budgeted billions of naira for it every year without producing petrol, where is the money going to?
How many companies have you brought or built since when you have been in power instead you want to engage in selling the one your predecessors built, government should better think twice.
I hope what you want to engage in won’t back fire, because the one you have sold earlier there’s no benefit of it.
I don’t think selling the national assets will bring solution to our problems instead why can’t you reduce your allowances and use it to fund the budget.
