IGP orders arrest of Sunday Igboho over eviction notice to Herdsmen

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu has ordered the arrest of Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, over the quit notice he issued to herdsmen.

BBC Hausa quoted Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, as confirming the arrest order during its programme on Friday.

Shehu reportedly stated that the IGP informed him of his directive to the Oyo State Police Commissioner, Ngozi Onadeko, to arrest Igboho and transfer him to Abuja.

Igboho had asked herdsmen in Igangan, Ibarapa north local government area of Oyo to leave within seven days following reports of the killing of some Oyo citizens. The quit notice generated tension in parts of the state.

This development led Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to ask the IGP to arrest those causing trouble under the guise of protecting the interest of Yoruba people

  1. No problem, we are waiting for his arrest and I hope this won’t lead death of many people and officers in the country.

  2. Governor seyi makinde should intervene before it leads to chaos in the state, arresting him will not solve the issue on the ground.

  3. The only who is empowered by the Nigeria constitution that give order to leave the state is the governor except him no other person, that is where he was faulted but IGP should use wisdom.
