We have to find a way to get leaders with character and competence not those with stolen money – Jega

Former INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega has advised that a certain consensus be created in a way that political leadership is not for the rich who must have embezzled public fund.

He said this during the pre-Ramadan lecture at the University of Lagos Muslim Alumni, UMA. According to him, the country needs a leader with competence, character and capacity to be better again

He said, “We must develop an overwhelming consensus that political leadership cannot remain the only job for which no qualification appears necessary except to have a lot of money which is usually, stolen money.

“It is for this reason that we must find a way to bring relevant criteria to bear on the selection of leadership in our dear country. We have got to find a way of making character, competence and capacity to determine who leads us.”

  1. Jega should go and rest. He was the one that worked against Jonathan to favor Buhari knowing that he has no requirement to be president but went ahead. Jega is now shifting the blame thinking we have forgotten
