Stop disgracing yourselves, we have so much respect for you – Kwankwaso speaks on political leaders endorsing candidates
The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has claimed political leaders are making a mistake by publicly endorsing candidates ahead of next year’s elections. He said this following the endorsement of Peter Obi of Labour party by Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Elder statesman, Edwin Clark.
He said the endorsements were based on religious and ethnic sentiments.
Kwankwaso stated this on Wednesday when he visited the governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, at the Government House in Benin.
According to him; “Some of the people… we have seen on the news that they are supporting Mr A or Mr B, I think it is a big mistake. These are leaders I respect. There is a time in your life when you become a real statesman, not a politician.
“I can tell you also that any candidate or party that comes out with the face of ethnicity or the issue of religion, that party, that candidate, I can assure, at the national level, has failed that election before it starts.
“And I want to advise our leaders: they should stop disgracing themselves. We have so much respect for them,” Kwankwaso said.
Some of these leaders do not have what it takes to be called a leader, that’s why
You don’t need to look at them, just focus on your campaign and your ambitions
I think if they listen to you, they will think twice before endorsing another candidate
Some of them ought to have cover their face for the bad things they have done in this country
they should also behave themselves…….
