Seun Kuti leaves the country for Zurich hours after release from prison

Seun Kuti has departed the country shortly after his release from prison, less than 48 hours ago.

The Afrobeat legend had been held at the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Panti, Yaba, Lagos, following an order from the Yaba Chief Magistrate Court. The court had remanded him for allegedly assaulting a police officer, as seen in a viral video. However, on Tuesday, he was granted bail after spending eight days in custody.

Despite attending his trial at the Chief Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos, on Wednesday, the proceedings were adjourned until July 3, 2023, due to the magistrate’s absence.

On Thursday, Seun Kuti took to his Instastory to announce that he was en route to Switzerland to begin his European tour. He shared a picture of himself on a plane and wrote, “Euro tour kicks off tonight in Zurich.”
