I almost slapped a politician who told me that an Igbo person can never lead Nigeria – Reality TV star, Pere

Reality TV Star, Pere Egbi has expressed his distress over what he considers to be the unjust treatment of the Igbo tribe by the political elite.

He stated that there is a deep-seated animosity towards the Igbo people within Nigeria, recounting an incident where a politician boldly claimed that “an Igbo person can never rule Nigeria.”

Pere admitted that he was tempted to physically confront the politician but restrained himself based on his religious principles.

Furthermore, he expressed his dismay at the hateful campaign targeting the Igbo tribe on social media.

In a tweet posted on Tuesday morning, Pere conveyed his sentiments, saying, “The animosity directed towards the Igbos in Nigeria is palpable. Even though I am neither Igbo, Yoruba, nor Hausa, I empathize with them.”

“Precisely, a politician once informed me that ‘an Igbo person can never lead Nigeria.’ If it hadn’t been for my adherence to religious principles, I would have slapped him that day.”

“Online, I witness a significant amount of hatred towards the Igbo tribe, particularly from individuals involved in politics. Nigeria is faced with a severe problem, and we must confront it honestly and directly. This unfair treatment must be addressed.”
