“Currently, Emefiele is not with us” – DSS
The Department of State Services (DSS) has clarified that the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, is not currently in their custody.
Following Emefiele’s suspension by President Bola Tinubu, there were reports suggesting that he had been arrested.
Emefiele’s suspension was attributed to an ongoing investigation into his office and planned reforms in the financial sector, as stated in a release by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
However, the DSS took to Twitter on Saturday to clarify that the former CBN Governor is not in their custody.
The tweet stated, “Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS.”
As of now, the whereabouts of Emefiele remain unknown.
