Fire guts popular hotel in Onitsha

A fire outbreak has occurred at Sopurum Hotel, situated in the Nkwelle community of Onitsha, Anambra State.

According to reports, the incident took place in the early hours of Monday, resulting in significant damage to a substantial portion of the hotel structure.

Fire service personnel from both Delta and Anambra states are currently present at the scene, actively working to combat the situation as this report is being filed.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the fire incident to Channels TV. He assured that the situation is now under control.

“The situation is under control. The fire started around 4:30 am on Monday, and when we got the information, our men were quickly mobilised to the scene, and they condoned off the area to avoid any case of vandalism,” Ikenga said.
