Biafra will back you if Nigerian military intervenes – Simon Ekpa assures Niger, Mali

Simon Ekpa, a well-known advocate for Biafra’s independence and separation, has expressed his support for the military regimes in Niger Republic, Mali, and Burkina Faso. He stated that if the Nigerian military were to intervene, the Biafra movement would also back these military regimes. Ekpa, who is a lawyer residing in Finland and leads the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, conveyed this viewpoint through a video posted on his verified Twitter account on Monday.

His response follows the ongoing tension within the West African region due to the recent military takeover in Niger Republic last month. It’s worth noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sought Senate approval to implement resolutions established by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to restore stability in Niger. One of these resolutions involved the potential use of military force if the junta did not step down within seven days. This deadline passed on Sunday.

Reacting to ECOWAS’s ultimatum, Ekpa asserted that Biafra stands in solidarity with the juntas in Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso

“I want to start by encouraging the presidents of Mali, Burkina Faso and the Niger Republic.

“I want them to understand that the wave of freedom in Africa, especially West Africa, must continue. We want to let them know that Biafra is behind them.

“We are fighting the economic freedom and the complete freedom of our people. Should Nigeria lead a military invasion of the Niger Republic, Biafra will stand by them.

“Over 70 million Biafra is standing behind any nations that want to free themselves from modern-day colonialism”, he said.
