Married Nigerian man who travelled abroad for greener pastures says he won’t return and doesn’t know how to tell his wife to move on – Human Rights advocate, Israel Joe shares

A married Nigerian man who ventured abroad in pursuit of better opportunities has expressed his decision not to return and is grappling with how to convey this to his wife so she can move forward.

Human rights advocate Comrade Israel Joe shared this situation in a Facebook post dated Monday, August 7, 2023. According to the post, the man reached out to Joe, seeking assistance in communicating this delicate matter to his wife.

The man in question, known to Joe, has made it clear that he won’t be returning to Nigeria. He expressed uncertainty about how to tell his wife to move on with her life. Despite this, he intends to continue providing financial support for his wife and children.

He acknowledges that his return is unlikely, but he plans for his children to eventually join him abroad. Interestingly, he envisions creating a path for his wife and a potential future husband to follow suit, albeit not in the immediate future—perhaps 10 to 15 years down the line.

Regarding Joe’s involvement, he’s offered advice to his friend, the aforementioned man, but he won’t assume the responsibility of conveying the message to his wife. He believes the man should find a way to communicate his intentions himself and take the necessary steps to navigate this challenging situation.
