Nigeria would have been affected by a disaster if we didn’t take over – Niger Coup plotters claim

General Abdourahmane Tchiani, the junta leader who orchestrated the Nigerien government’s takeover, has asserted that the military intervention in his country prevented an impending calamity in Nigeria.

Following a meeting between Islamic scholars and President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja on Friday, discussions were held with Tchiani in Niamey on Saturday, August 12.

Sheik Bala Lau, Chairman of Jam’atul Izalatu Bida Waikamatu Sunnah, revealed that Tchiani suggested the coup was carried out with good intentions. Tchiani purportedly stated that the coup was executed to avert an impending danger that could have affected Niger Republic and Nigeria.
