Aviation Minister, Keyamo orders demolition of hangers at Lagos Airport

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has set a deadline of October 1st for the relocation from the old terminal to the new terminal at the International Airport. During his inaugural visit to Lagos, where he is currently touring various airport facilities, both domestic and international, and surrounding areas, Keyamo has been assessing the state of these facilities.

Since taking office on August 21st, there have been concerns about the significant challenges facing him in revitalizing the aviation sector. While inspecting some of the facilities at MMA2, the Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of certain infrastructure and raised questions about the Federal Airport’s Authority of Nigeria’s methods for coordinating and overseeing its available resources.

Keyamo also strongly endorsed a private-sector-driven approach to aviation and suggested that some of the spaces at MMA2 could be made available for concessions to generate additional revenue.
