CBN deputy governor Obiora reportedly arrested by DSS

Kingsley Obiora, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has reportedly been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS).

This arrest is said to be linked to accusations of financial mismanagement during the tenure of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended CBN governor. Obiora holds the position of Deputy Governor responsible for economic policy at the central bank. His apprehension coincides with an ongoing investigation into the CBN’s activities during Godwin Emefiele’s leadership.

Emefiele has been in the custody of the DSS since June 10, 2023, a day after President Bola Tinubu removed him from office.
