Senate confirms Olukoyede, Hammajoda as EFCC Chairman, Secretary

Ola Olukoyede has been officially approved by the Senate to serve as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Additionally, Muhammad Hammajoda’s appointment as the Secretary of the anti-corruption agency was also confirmed.

Olukoyede was accompanied by some of the Commission’s management staff and was present at the National Assembly.

The Senate conducted their screening and subsequently confirmed both individuals on Wednesday afternoon. This confirmation occurred about a week after President Bola Tinubu appointed them.

Their appointments are initially for a renewable term of four years.

Olukoyede’s assumption of the position as the new EFCC chairman follows almost four months after Tinubu suspended the former head of the anti-graft agency, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.
