Supreme Court declines to free Nnamdi Kanu

The Supreme Court rejected the plea for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

The court overturned the Court of Appeal’s decision that ordered Kanu’s release, stating that the Nigerian government’s unlawful extradition of Kanu from Kenya doesn’t impede the trial.

The Supreme Court emphasized that the proper remedy for the unlawful act is a civil matter, and it directed Kanu to face the remaining 7 counts of terrorism charges.
