If Emefiele was in China he would be facing a firing squad – Bayo Onanuga

The Presidency, through President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, asserted that if Godwin Emefiele, the ex-Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, were Chinese, he would have faced severe consequences, possibly a firing squad.

Onanuga’s comments were in response to the findings of the Special Investigation on CBN and Related Entities, Chargeable Offences report, which accused Emefiele of egregious misappropriation.

The report claimed that Emefiele, during his tenure, opened unauthorized bank accounts and deposited billions in various countries, including the UK and China.

Posting on X, Onanuga wrote: “If Godwin Emefiele and his gang had committed these egregious misappropriations in China, they will by now be facing the firing squad for high treason.”
