Federal Government to use Kano inland dry port to decongest Lagos –Trade Minister

Minister of Trade and Investment, Doris Nkiryuka Uzoka Anite, stated that the Federal Government plans to utilize the Kano inland dry port to alleviate congestion at Lagos ports, facilitating smoother import and export processes.

During her inspection visit to the Kano Dala Inland Dry Port on Thursday, the minister emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s keen interest in establishing a comprehensive business hub in the country.

She highlighted the Kano Dala Inland Dry Port as a pivotal area for government intervention to stimulate economic revitalization.

“The government of President Tinubu is highly interested in collaborative business efforts that would grow the nation’s economy, and Dala Inland Dry Port is one place that the government will use in this regard,” she said.

The managing director of the dry port, Ahmad Rabiu, suggested that local producers will find it more convenient to export through the port to countries like China. He highlighted that the port’s operations are significantly expediting cargo movement, leading to a substantial reduction in the time required to send shipments.

“One of the most visible benefits of the port to businesses in the Northwest, and Kano, especially, is that moving cargoes to the seaport in Lagos for export is now faster, and the amount of money that is expended to accommodate the staff accomplishing the cargoes in hotels, as well as other auxiliary expenses, have been eliminated,” he stated.
