Senate suspends Abdul Ningi over budget padding accusation

The Senate has decided to suspend Senator Abdul Ningi of Bauchi Central constituency due to his accusation of budget padding. This suspension is to be enforced for a duration of three months.

This action came after Senator Jimoh Ibrahim motioned for the suspension of Ningi.

During the deliberation, some Senators proposed reducing Ningi’s suspension to three months.

Ningi had made allegations against the Senate, accusing them of padding the 2024 appropriation bill by N3.7 trillion, as reported in an interview with the BBC.

However, during Tuesday’s proceedings, the Senate cited Ningi’s alleged misconduct and refusal to apologize as grounds for his suspension.
