Alleged N80.2bn fraud: ”Yahaya Bello remains a responsible citizen” – Kogi youths protest EFCC’s move to arrest Yahaya Bello

A group of youths in Kogi State on Tuesday staged a protest against the purported plans of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to apprehend former Governor Yahaya Bello on allegations of embezzling N80.2 billion. Converging in significant numbers, they obstructed the Lokoja-Abuja road, resulting in traffic congestion along the route.

Under the banners of the Coalition of Civil Society for Democracy and the Africa Youths Coalition for Justice, the protesters voiced their grievances, accusing the anti-corruption agency of engaging in a witch-hunt and unfairly targeting the former governor.

Their placards bore messages such as “Nigeria is not a banana republic,” “President Tinubu, call EFCC to order,” “EFCC, stop witch-hunting,” “Yahaya Bello remains a responsible citizen,” and “EFCC, obey court orders now,” among others.
