Kashamu evaded justice but couldn’t beat death – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed sadness over the death of Senator Buruji Kashamu who dies of COVID-19 on Saturday, August 8.

In a letter of condolence sent to the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, Obasanjo however said the deceased Senator used the instruments of law and politics to evade justice over the criminal charges leveled against him in and outside Nigeria but could not evade death.

The former President said the death of the PDP stalwart was sad but that his life and history has many lessons for those on this side of the veil.

“I received the sad news of the demise of Senator Esho Jinadu (Buruji Kashamu), a significant citizen of Ogun State.  Please accept my condolences and that of my family on this irreparable loss.

The life and history of the departed have lessons for those of us on this side of the veil.

Senator Esho Jinadu (Buruji Kashmu) in his lifetime used the maneuver of law and politics to escape from facing justice on the alleged criminal offence in Nigeria and outside Nigeria.

But no legal, political, cultural, social or even medical maneuver could stop the cold hand of death when the Creator of all of us decides that the time is up.

May Allah forgive his sin and accept his soul into Aljanah, and may God grant his family and friends fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.” Obasanjo’s condolence letter read

  1. This rest politicians should change from there evil ways.
To avoid death that comes in the face of corona.

  2. As you said and I quote”But No Legal, Political, Cultural, Social Or Even Medical Maneuver Could Stop The Cold Hand Of Death When The Creator Of All Of Us Decides That The Time Is Up.”
All the politicians should have this words at the back of their mind, it means if evade justice on this Earth what of hereafter, whatever amount of wealth you accumulated on this Earth can’t save you from death then why don’t you be good to the people and use your accumulated wealth to help the poor people. May Almighty God forgive him all his sins.

  3. All our leaders should have learnt from this death but the thing is vice versa, if the death would eventually take money from them, it won’t kill all the prominent people i.e abiola, ajimobi, kashamu, etc but it won’t take penny from them then why acquiring billion of dollars, Everything is six feet, they should better change their ways before it’s too late. Obasanjo you too can still correct you mistakes before it’s too late.

  4. Thanks so much to the former president for his condolence message to the family of the departed senator but some part of the condolence messenger to me sounds somehow
Talking about how he evaded judgement is not the right time to say that now
