#EndSARS protest: I appeal for patience even as you freely exercise your right – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to the EndSARS protesters to exercise patience as his administration works towards ending police brutality.

In a tweet shared via his Twitter handle, the president made it known that he has met with the IGP who has briefed him about the reforms which will end police brutality.

“I met again with the IGP tonight. Our determination to reform the police should never be in doubt. I am being briefed regularly on the reform efforts ongoing to end police brutality and unethical conduct, and ensure that the Police are fully accountable to the people.

“The IG already has my firm instructions to conclusively address the concerns of Nigerians regarding these excesses, & ensure erring personnel are brought to justice. I appeal for patience & calm, even as Nigerians freely exercise their right to peacefully make their views known.

“The vast majority of men and women of the Nigeria Police Force are patriotic and committed to protecting the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians, and we will continue to support them to do their job.”

  1. Tell that thrash story to the woods. Which reforms are you talking about in the police force
    You feel you can continue to deceive the people with your acclaimed reform that is of no significance

  2. The reason why Nigerians don’t want to listen to you is that government don’t take drastic steps in any complain by Nigerians. There are lots of things that Nigerians have complained about but not any positive response.

  3. The IGP should immediately constitute body that will come up with immediate resolution without wasting of much time because the way those SARS are treating unharmed Nigerians are very bad.

  4. Those err police officers have not been usually dealt with because if they use to brought them to book, things would have got better but the reverse is the case. Not paper talk we solution this time around.

  6. The patience of the citizens had grow thin… We need actions because we have been cry about the police brutality for a long time.. now is the time to act

  7. Nigeria police can not be reform except they retire all of them and recruit new people that have never been in to the system.
