Appeal Court upholds Maryam Sanda’s death sentence for the murder of her husband

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has upheld the death sentence handed to Maryam Sanda, convicted for murdering her husband Bilyaminu Bello, a cousin of former Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Haliru Bello.

A three-man panel of the court, in a judgment on Friday afternoon, dismissed Sandra’s appeal for lacking in merit.

Maryam was earlier this year, by a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama, convicted for murder and ordered to be hanged.

  1. In as much as it is not and will never be a nice thing to kill another person, I still beg that they should tamper justice with mercy since two wrongs can never make any right and there is no where in life that it has been proven that capital punishment has helped in stopping crime

  2. The family of the deceased husband should kindly render her assistant on this situation because of their children.
