“Kukah’s Christmas message was a calculated attempt to insult Islam which is typical of him”- JNI

Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has accused Matthew Kukah, bishop of Sokoto Catholic diocese of attempting to insult Islam with his Christmas message.

Kukah had alleged that there could have been a coup if a non-Northern Muslim President did a fraction of what President Buhari has done.

Reacting to this, the JNI in a statement signed by its secretary-general Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, said the message was a poisoned arrow fired at the heart of Islam and Muslims in Nigeria, hence the need for their intervention.

The group alleged that the Catholic Bishop initiated the attack even when he was welcomed in Sokoto, a state they described as the seat of the Caliphate and the heart of Islam and Islamic scholarship, culture and practices in sub-Saharan Africa.

The statement read;

“The attention of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam has been drawn to an irresponsible and seditious Christmas message issued by the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah. Though the message is disguised as a political hogwash to deceive the innocent, there is no doubt that it was a poisoned arrow fired at the heart of Islam and Muslims in Nigeria, hence the need for this intervention.

“The Bishop statement was a prepared address considering the occasion and the audience, one cannot but agree that it was a calculated attempt to insult Islam which is typical of him. Kukah is the Bishop of the Sokoto diocese located at the seat of the Caliphate and the heart of Islam and Islamic scholarship, culture and practices in sub-Saharan Africa.

“Despite the status of Sokoto to the Muslims and Islamic history, Bishop Kukah was warmly welcomed, accepted, accommodated and accorded respect deserving of his position as a religious leader. Across the length and breadth of the Northern Nigeria, Kukah has friends and associates among the Muslim society. Without fear of any contradiction, he is most accepted and accommodated Christian clergy to the leaders of the Muslims in the north.

“They accorded him all the support he needed, despite some reservations from some quarters about his tendencies to bite the fingers that feed him. In spite of the liberality, congeniality and the camaraderie extended to Bishop Kukah in Sokoto and all over the Muslim north, he throws all sense of decorum and common sense to the wind.”

  1. RELIGION GO KILL UNA ONE DAY, HOW CAN YOU TAKE A MAN’S TRUTH AND DIVERT IT INTO RELIGIOUS STATEMENT. WHY CAN’T WE ACCEPT THE TRUTH FOR ONCE.

  2. Something meaningful must be done to averted this issue of insecurity in the north, that is what ought to be in the mind of the muslim not only responding to the statement alone.

  3. Jama’at Nasir Islam (JNI), should also look for how to eradicate insecurity in the land if not totally but to the bearest minimal.

  4. I don’t really think the bishop actually said it because of the Muslims but rather because of the way the muhammadu buhari government has been that the comforter way Siri to ask who are from this other area of the country we cannot really tell if he has done anything in in the North word for us the South South South East and the words there’s nothing to write home about

  5. Bishop mathew Hassan kukah has expressed his opinion it’s now let for concerned people to address the areas he talked about, insulting one another could not solve the problems.

  6. Religions in politics is what is killing this country…. Imagine that all what this man said is true but just bcuz he is a man of God now mean he has other motives from saying the truth…. Hope we all wise up someday and put aside religious in other to achieve a common goal…. #Make9jaBetter…

  7. Though, saying if non muslim is the doing all these things, he would have been overthrown by the army is the only thing you deduce from his message, are you telling us that except that there’s no any other messages that you people can talk about.
