Nigerian leaders steal money, go to Jerusalem, Saudi to pray – Kukah

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah has once again taken a swipe at corrupt officials in Nigeria.

Speaking at the wake mass for Archbishop Peter Yariyock Jatau at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral in Kaduna in a sermon he titled, “A Nation in Search of Its Soul”, Kukah said citizens usually complain that the country is full of churches and mosques but cannot find the values of religions in their leaders.

“We sin at home by stealing the nation’s resources but we seek repentance and forgiveness in Saudi Arabia and Jerusalem in the guise of lesser or higher pilgrimages,” Arise News quoted him as saying.

“Our nation has become one huge waste land, huge debris of the deceit, lies, treachery, double dealing and duplicity. Nigerian politicians have turned our politics into a huge trojan horse, a hoax, a hall of guile and dissimulation,” he said.

Kukah warned that general frustration was on the rise and evident in domestic violence and inter-communal conflicts, according to him a combination of all these has turned us unto a nation at war with itself,” the Bishop stated.

  1. Bitter truth and that is their way of governing the country and they don’t even fear God…. All they cared for is there own pocket….

  2. THE TRUTH IS THAT THOSE PLACES ARE NO LONGER HOLY AS IT USE TO BE, IF NOT ANY OF THAT GO THERE WILL BE RETURNED AS CORPS. THOSE PLACES HAVE BECOME TOURIST PLACES NOT HOLY GROUNDS

  3. Stealing money is not a new thing to them those in corridor of power have seen it as normal thing, may Almighty God punish those people who jeopardize our future for their sake.

  4. They always want to God for granted because they think if they have stealing the money and spend it to build mosque or church they will now think that the government have forgiven them.

  5. Those who thinks God is stupid like them are insane, if they didn’t repent, they will be punished by God by the end of their life.

  6. If those people think we can’t do anything to them on Earth and nobody could hold them responsible, one day there will be a place in which they will stand in front of their creatures and give account of their wealth.
