‘Stop and search’ may be inconvenient for passengers, but please always be patient and cooperate with the Police – Delta State Police command says after discovering a cut-to-size gun and two cartridges.

DSP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, emphasized the significance of the ‘stop and search’ operation conducted by police officers.

In a post on his social media handle, Edafe acknowledged that while the exercise may cause inconvenience, it has proven effective in identifying criminal elements within society. He made this assertion while announcing the apprehension of a suspected criminal who was discovered in possession of a cut-to-size gun and two cartridges.

According to him; ‘’Stop and search is very important, pls be patient with us. Kindly read this and understand why!!!

I got a call from a distress caller that they were on a commercial vehicle coming to Asaba, but the Police stopped them at Kwale and searched all the passengers, he said he didn’t know what they saw with one of them, and that after seeing that thing, the policemen took all of them to the station.  I asked that he give the policemen the phone, guess what was found with one of the passengers? A cut-to-size gun, and two live cartridges concealed inside a bag containing smoked fish. He was detained and other passengers were allowed to go. You can see that stop and search is so important, I quite agree that it may inconvenience passengers, but pls always be patient and cooperate with the Police.”
