Despite $5.4 billion Paris refund, 133 million people live below the poverty line – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Lawmaker, Shehu Sani has said that the challenges facing Nigeria are a result of human actions. Despite state governors receiving a substantial sum of money from the Paris refund, Sani expressed dismay that over 133 million Nigerians now live below the poverty line.

In a tweet posted on Monday, Sani pointed out that the World Food Programme (WFP) estimates that 4.3 million individuals in the Northeast are experiencing severe hunger and malnutrition.

“In eight years, $5.4 billion Paris refund was shared to states governors; 133 million people now live below the poverty line and 4.3 million people in the North East face severe hunger and malnutrition according to WFP figures. Our problems are man-made,” Sani said.
