Kalu can’t be Senate president, he is qualified but the performance from the South-east is considerably very low – Adamu Garba

A chieftain of the Ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Adamu Garba has expressed his opinion that former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzo Kalu, may not secure the position of President of the 10th Senate due to the party’s underperformance in the South-East region.

During his appearance on Arise Television’s morning show on Monday, Adamu expressed confidence that the Chief Whip of the Senate would withdraw from the race for the Senate presidency.

It should be noted that the APC National Working Committee has already allocated the position to the South-South region, with Godswill Akpabio from Akwa Ibom State as the chosen candidate for Senate president and Barau Jubrin from Kano State as the deputy.

However, supporters of Kalu have insisted that the position should be zoned to the South-East region, considering him as the most suitable candidate.

Nonetheless, Mr. Garba stated that the lawmaker should first mobilize and unite the people of his region to align properly with the ruling party.

He said, “I am hundred percent confident that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu will withdraw from the race for the senate presidency.

“He is qualified but the performance from the South-east is considerably very low. He should find a way to organize the South-east so that they can mainstream with the APC strongly”.
