DSS sponsoring armed group in Biafra land, holding Nnamdi Kanu illegally – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have made allegations against the Department of State Services (DSS), accusing them of unlawfully holding their leader, Nnamdi Kanu. IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, has asserted that Kanu was detained by the DSS under questionable circumstances while using insecurity as a means to manipulate the group. Powerful conveyed this accusation while urging the public to disregard reports claiming the neutralization of Eastern Security Network (ESN) operatives in Arochukwu and Enugu forests.

In a statement, Powerful clarified that the viral pictures and videos being circulated by the Nigerian military depict an invasion of the Biafra National Guard (BNG) camp. He emphasized that BNG is distinct from IPOB and has never professed any affiliation with the group.

The statement reads partly: “Nigeria Government’s desperate efforts to blackmail IPOB and ESN for over 8 years have always failed because IPOB’s approach to self-determination is in line with international laws.

“In desperate moves to blackmail IPOB and ESN, Nigeria Security Agents, particularly the DSS, have sponsored armed groups in Biafra Land while detaining Mazi Nnamdi KANU illegally.

“But, our disciplined approaches have always exonerated the movement from these sponsored criminals. The viral pictures and videos circulated by the Nigeria military showed they invaded the camp of Biafra National Guard (BNG).

“The BNG are not part of IPOB and have never claimed to have anything to do with IPOB.”
