Nelson Mandela’s Granddaughter dies of cancer at 43

Zoleka Mandela, the granddaughter of Nelson Mandela, has sadly passed away at the age of 43 after a long battle with metastatic cancer.

Last Monday, she was admitted to the hospital for treatment and, despite the efforts and support of loved ones and friends, she succumbed to the disease on the eve of her grandmother’s birthday.

In a heartfelt statement shared on Instagram, a family representative confirmed her passing on Monday evening.

Zoleka garnered attention in recent years for her courageous openness about her cancer treatment journey and her struggles with drug addiction, depression, and childhood sexual abuse. She chronicled her incredible life story in an autobiography titled “When Hope Whispers.”

Over a decade ago, Zoleka faced a breast cancer diagnosis, underwent treatment, and went into remission. Unfortunately, the cancer reappeared, affecting her liver and lungs last year before spreading to other organs. Despite enduring challenges like blood clots and fibrosis in her lungs, she remained optimistic, expressing gratitude for the available treatment options just days before she passed away.
