Impeachment: Wike, Fubara meet in Aso Rock, shake hands

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, are presently at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Both figures were drawn to the Villa for the National Police Council meeting, overseen by President Bola Tinubu. The meeting, which includes several governors, raises speculation about the possibility of reconciling the strained relationship between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Wike.

Other governors spotted heading to the closed-door gathering include Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), ABDULLAHI Abba (Kano), and Bassey Ottu (Cross River).

Wike was observed exchanging pleasantries briefly and shaking hands with Governor Fubara after a conversation with the NSA.

This marks the first face-to-face encounter between Fubara and Wike since the reported discord between them began.

The rift between Fubara and Wike is reportedly linked to the attempted impeachment moves by 24 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly against Governor Fubara, leading to unrest in the state.
