”Aside padding budgets, what else do our senators do?” – Basket Mouth asks

Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha, widely known as Basketmouth, has raised concerns about the achievements of Nigerian senators.

His remarks comes amidst ongoing controversies surrounding the alleged padding of N3.7 trillion into the country’s 2024 budget.

Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central, had claimed in an interview a week ago that the mentioned sum in the 2024 budget couldn’t be accounted for in project allocations.

In response to this allegation, the Senate, under the leadership of President Godswill Akpabio, suspended Ningi for three months during Tuesday’s plenary session.

Expressing his thoughts on the matter via a post on his Instagram story, Basketmouth questioned whether the Nigerian Senate has ever undertaken any actions beneficial to the masses beyond budget padding.

He wrote: “I have got a question, aside padding budgets, what else do our senators do?

“Like, what have they done in the past 50 years that favored the average Nigerian?”
