Sanwo-Olu moves to Scrap Pension for Ex-Lagos Governors, Deputies
Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has disclosed plans to abolish the Public Office Holder (Payment of Pension Law 2007) in Lagos State.
The implication of this is that former Governors and their Deputies will no longer be entitled to pension and other benefits after they leave office.
Sanwo-Olu dropped the hint on Tuesday when he appeared before the Lagos State House Of Assembly to present the state 2021 budget estimates of N1,155,022,413,005.82.
“Mr. Speaker and Honourable Members of the House, in light of keeping the costs of governance low and to signal selflessness in public service, we will be sending a draft executive bill to the House imminently for the repeal of the Public Office Holder (Payment of Pension Law 2007), which provides for payment of pension and other entitlements to former Governors and their Deputies”, the Governor said.
This is the best news I have ever heard from this government
The money meant for those ex governors as pension should be channeled to the laudable projects.
If this could be true, I hope that huge amount of money would be used for clearing of pensions of civil servants which have retired.
I hope it won’t be as usual like audio promises, that is good move.
Why now???? If I may ask. Do all these while they have been eating pension money
These leaders are so wicked
Sanwo is having blood stains on his hands and it will consume him
After serving for eight years with fat salary collected by those governors and various allowances, they are not contented with it, they are still looking another ways to loot the treasury of their states.
I think that will be a good idea
I don’t even know why they should be receiving salaries even when they are not still working anything, scrap it abeg.
If he can do this, it will help the state to raise fund to use to put the state back from the destruction that took place due to the endsar protest.
It’s a right move
I have always said, if other governors can always copy most of us ways
It’s a welcome development to the state
I wonder, why would they be in pension roll when they have ended their tenure.
Very good,I hope this ideal won’t have a second taught
They should channel those money into other things.
That is good news…. Hope all other states can emulates this moves…
I love this move ahead ahead am waiting to see that come true
Hmmmmmmm
That’s a good move.
