Payment of Bride Price is not marriage, wait until you are married before you have sex – Nigerian man shares

A Nigerian man has offered advice to a woman named Ms. Nwankwo, cautioning her against engaging in sexual relations with a man who has only paid her bride price.

Expressing his opinion in a Facebook group, the man emphasized that the payment of bride price does not constitute a complete marriage.

“It’s wrong. Payment of bride price is not marriage. Wait until the marriage is solemnized and you are pronounced husband and wife. It’s all yours. No need to rush,”he wrote.

However, other members of the Facebook group, who are also Nigerians, expressed disagreement with his viewpoint, stating that African culture recognizes bride price as a form of marriage.

One individual, Omoshalewa Samuel, wrote, “You are already married. Paying of bride price is what the Bible recognize. Church wedding is a borrowed culture of the whites that we now imitate.”
